NIRF Rankings 2025: Delhi University Secures 6th in University Category, Dominates Colleges with Top 5 Ranks

The University of Delhi shines in the 10th edition of NIRF Rankings, with 6th rank in Universities category, leap to 12th in Research, and dominance in Colleges with its colleges grabbing top 5 Ranks.

The University of Delhi (DU) has delivered one of its best performances in the 10th edition of the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) India Rankings, NIRF 2025, announced by the Ministry of Education today. In the 10th edition of the NIRF Rankings, DU has strengthened its position as one of the leading higher education institutions in the country, with appearing in research category and continuing its dominance in colleges category.

DU at 6th in NIRF 2025 Universities Rankings

In the University category of NIRF, Delhi University has been ranked 6th this year, maintaining its place among India’s top universities. In the Research Institutions category of NIRF, DU has made significant progress, climbing from 14th in 2024 to 12th this year, behind only IITs and dedicated research institutions.

In the Overall category of NIRF India Rankings 2025, DU has retained its 15th rank, reaffirming its place as one of the country’s most respected universities.

Delhi University Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh called the NIRF Rankings a “historic moment” for DU. “NIRF 2025 is our best-ever performance and a source of immense pride. It reflects the dedication of our faculty, students, alumni, and staff. This recognition will inspire us to scale greater heights in teaching, research, and community service,” he said.

NIRF Colleges Ranking 2025: DU Colleges in Top 5; 6 out of Top 10

Delhi University, which known for its colleges has shown its power in the College category, where its affiliated colleges have had a clean sweep of the top five ranks this year.

NIRF 2025: Top 5 Colleges (All DU):

1. Hindu College

2. Miranda House

3. Hansraj College

4. Kirori Mal College

5. St. Stephen’s College

Beyond the top five of NIRF Rankings, DU continues its dominance with as many as six of the top ten and ten of the top twenty colleges in the country. This list includes names like Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College (ARSD) (Rank 7) among others, this showcasing DU’s dominance in undergraduate education.

“This sweep in the college rankings demonstrates DU’s academic legacy and ability to stay relevant in today’s competitive environment,” Prof. Singh noted, congratulating principals, faculty, and students.

With this performance, Delhi University has not only reaffirmed its top postition among the universities but also showcased its strength across disciplines. Prof. Singh added that the recognition cements DU’s role in education, research, and community engagement while motivating the institution to aim higher.
