The National Forensic Sciences University organised its third convocation. The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, attended the convocation ceremony as the chief guest of the event. President Murmu addressed the audience and encouraged the students to aim for delivering fair and timely justice, especially to the weaker and disadvantaged sections of society, and to contribute to the country's good governance.

During her speech, the President emphasised that a justice-based community is favourably valued in India. She highlighted that by blending our heritage with progress, we are working towards building a developed nation. She further mentioned that in recent years, the Ministry of Home Affairs has taken key steps to strengthen forensic sciences and enhance related facilities and resources.

President Murmu Highlighted Increasing Demand for Forensic Experts

While addressing, the President also discussed recent amendments in criminal laws concerning crime investigations and evidence collection on site. For matters with a sentence of seven years or more, a forensic expert is required to visit the crime scene for investigation. She also mentioned that as time-bound forensic examinations are now mandatory in many laws, this will increase the demand for forensic experts in the near future.

Going forward, she highlighted that the advancement in technology, including the ones in digital and artificial sciences, are enhancing the skillfulness among forensic scientists. Ending her addressing speech, the President expressed conviction that the contribution of the National Forensic Sciences University will create a stronger forensic system, leading to higher conviction rates and preventing crime.
