The UGC has now circulated the list of defaulting universities and warned them to take corrective steps immediately.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued notices to 54 state private universities for not sharing key details on their official websites, as required under its disclosure guidelines.

In a circular released today, the commission said these institutions had failed to either submit the required information or upload it in the prescribed format, despite repeated reminders. The varsities were asked to share details on their websites in a way that is easily accessible to students and the public, without any login or registration barrier.

The UGC in its notice stresses on the importance of transparency in higher education. Universities were earlier directed to upload attested documents and provide a direct link on their homepage, but many have not complied so far.
