UGC Reminds Students to Update Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) Before Semester Exams
UGC asks UG and PG students to update and link their Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) ID before semester exams to avoid issues in results and credit transfer.
University Grants Commission has issued reminder to students enrolled in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes to ensure that their Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) details are updated and correctly linked before upcoming semester and annual examinations.
UGC advisory has come at a time when universities are preparing for end-semester assessments and uploading academic records. Incomplete or unlinked ABC details might lead to delays or complications during result processing, credit transfers or degree issuance.
Academic Bank of Credits is a digital system that allows students to store credits earned from recognised higher education institutions. These credits can later be accumulated, transferred between institutions or used under multiple entry and exit provisions of National Education Policy 2020.
Students who are currently pursuing degree programmes, particularly those planning to change institutions or make use of credit transfer options, have been advised to verify their ABC status at earliest. Universities have also been asked to cross-check student records before uploading academic data.
To create or update an ABC ID, students need to log in to official portal using Aadhaar-linked credentials and verify personal and academic details. Any mismatch in information such as name, date of birth or institutional affiliation should be reported to respective college or university for correction.
UGC has reiterated that Academic Bank of Credits will remain a mandatory component of higher education records and students are encouraged to complete this process before exams to avoid last-minute issues.
