Jammu Final year Exams 2020: Jammu University to be kept closed for 3 days; exams postponed
The University of Jammu has postponed the exams scheduled to start from today, i.e. September 9.
The University of Jammu has postponed all the exams that were scheduled to be conducted from September 9 to 11, 2020. This has been done as the main campus of the University will be kept closed on the given dates. The university also announced that it will be releasing the fresh dates for conducting the postponed exams separately. It has been informed that since there are cases of coronavirus positive people on the campus, it has been decided to close it for the next three days.
"The Main Campus of the University shall remain closed for three days i.e. w.e.f. 9th to 11th September 2020, it is notified for the information of all concerned that all the examinations of the University of Jammu slated to be held on the aforesaid dates stand postponed and fresh dates for holding such postponed examinations shall be notified separately,” the University of Jammu said in a statement.
The exams were decided to be conducted after the Supreme Court ordered that no students be promoted without them appearing for the exams. All the exams thus are to be conducted as per the University Grants Commission's guidelines and academic calendar which is by September 30. The SC has given the liberty to the states and the varsities to reach out to the UGC in case they are unable to follow the calendar and need a change of date.
Jammu and Kashmir region has witnessed a rise in the number of coronavirus cases in the past few days. Recently, the Jammu office of the Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education, JKBOSE, situated at Rehari, Jammu, was also closed for three days after 15 employees of the board were tested COVID-19 positive.
