AIBE 18 COP OUT: The Bar Council of India (BCI) has released the AIBE 18 (VIII) COP 2023. The BCI in an official notification announced that the AIBE 18 Certificate of Practice has been published for all State Bar Councils, except for the Karnataka State Bar Council. AIBE 18 Exam 2023 was conducted on December 10, 2023. AIBE 18 Result 2023 was announced on March 26.

Candidates must note that they won't be allowed to practice in the court of law without the Certificate of Practice (COP). The BCI has made it mandatory for all lawyers to obtain a Certificate of Practice (COP) within two years of provisional enrollment. In an official notification the BCI announced that, "Please be informed that the Certificate of Practice (COP) for the AIBE-XVIII examination has been dispatched to all State Bar Councils, except for the Karnataka State Bar Council. We kindly request all candidates to collect their COP from their respective State Bar Councils. For any queries or assistance regarding the collection process, please contact your respective State Bar Councils directly. Please note that the COP for candidates under the Karnataka State Bar Council will be released soon. A separate notification will be issued once they are available. "

Steps to Fill the Application to Obtain COP from the State Bar Council

Candidates can follow the simple steps given below to fill application for COP:

  • Download or obtain the COP application form from the respective State Bar Council's website or address.
  • Complete the application form with details about academic qualifications, bar council enrollment, and AIBE qualifying status.
  • Submit the filled application form along with the required documents and the application fee.
  • Required Documents to Attach:
    AIBE Result Copy
    Academic Qualification Documents
    Three recent passport-size color photographs
    Valid caste certificate issued by the competent authority (for SC/ST applicants)
    Other certificates, photographs, declarations, and documents as specified in the application form
  • The application fee varies for different state bar councils and is subject to change each year. Therefore, candidates are advised to obtain the application form along with the latest fee details.

How to obtain COP from State Bar Council?

Previously, all eligible candidates would receive a notification from the Bar Council of India regarding the availability of COP at the state bar councils. Afterwards, candidates would visit their state bar council to get the COP. In order to give candidates access to a digital copy of their COP until they receive a print copy, the bar council introduced the AIBESCOPE smartphone application in 2021. Currently, applicants must complete an application form that may be found on the state bar council's official website.

Q:   What is AIBE 20 (XX) Exam Date?

A:

AIBE 20 Exam date 2025 has not been announced yet. Only those candidates who are enrolled with any state bar council will be eligible to apply. AIBE 20 Exam will be conducted in 22 regional languages including english. The AIBE Exam 2025 will be conducted in offline, pen-and-paper mode acorss the country.

Q:   Is there any dress code for AIBE exam?

A:

No, Bar Council of India has not prescribed any dress code for this examination. However, candidates are expected to wear comfortable clothing on the day of the examination. Candidates are advised to read all the guidelines mentioned on the AIBE 2025 admit card carefully so that there is no hassles at last moment at exam centre. Candidates are advised to arrange important documents to be carried at the centre in advance. AIBE 2025 Exam wil be held in pen-paper based mode.

Q:   What are the important subjects for AIBE 2025?

A:

AIBE question paper carried 100 objective-type questions, however, there were some subjects with higher weightage over the others, For example Constitutional Law, Criminal Procedure Code, and Civil Procedure Code will carried 10 questions each. While IPC, Indian Evidence ACT Family Law, Law of Contracts, SRA, NIA, carried 8 marks each.
