National Moot Court Competition: The National Law School of India University (NLSIU) and the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) are inviting law colleges across India to apply for the inaugural ‘NLS-NHRC National Moot Court Competition 2024-25,’ to be held in Bengaluru. Organised by the NHRC Chair at NLSIU in collaboration with NHRC, this year's moot will focus on the theme: "Censorship and Freedom of Speech and Expression under Article 19 of the Constitution of India."
The National Moot Court Competition 2024-25 registration process started today. A total of 16 teams will qualify for the final oral rounds in Bengaluru, based on memorial submissions in the qualifier rounds scheduled for November 2024. The final rounds will take place in from January 3 to 5, 2025.

Who are eligible for the National Moot Court Competition 2024-25?
The National Moot Court competition is open to students enrolled in LLB (3-year/5-year) or LLM programs. Each institution may send only one team, and all team members must be from the same institution. Teams should consist of three members: two speakers and one researcher.
National Moot Court Competition 2024-25 Format
The moot will be conducted over five rounds:
- Qualifiers (Memorial Submission): Teams must submit two memorials, one for the petitioner and one for the respondent, each with a maximum word limit of 4,000 words. The top 16 teams will advance to the oral rounds.
- Preliminary Oral Rounds (Pre-quarters): Sides will be determined by a draw of lots, and the top 8 teams will move on to the quarter-finals.
- Quarter-finals: The quarter-finals will follow a single-elimination format, with sides decided by lot.
- Semi-finals: The semi-finals will also use a single-elimination format, with sides assigned by lot.
- Finals: The final round will follow a similar single-elimination structure, with sides determined by lot. The winning team will be crowned the NLS-NHRC National Moot 2024 Champion.
