TANCET Exam Statistics: Total Registration vs Test Takers

An overall candidate participation across both MBA as well as MCA exam decreased from the previous year. A detailed comparison of the examination data is provided in the table below:

Metric 2025 Data 2026 Data
Total registrations for MBA & MCA 33,093 25,042
Total test takers for MBA & MCA 30,691 22,331

Expected Change in TANCET Cutoffs 2026

Based on the registration data and the reported exam difficulty, the expected cutoff trends for the MBA and MCA programs may change:

  • MBA Cutoffs Expected to Increase: The total number of candidates registered for the MBA exam dropped from 22,806 in 2025 to 17,060 in 2026. Out of the registered candidates in 2026, 15,050 appeared for the exam. Despite the reduced number of competitors, the cutoff marks for the MBA program are projected to increase. The 2026 MBA question paper was reported to be easy. An easier exam typically converts to a higher average score among test-takers. This concentration of higher scores will likely push the minimum admission requirements upward, offsetting the decrease in total applicant numbers.
  • MCA Cutoffs Expected to Decrease: For the MCA program, registrations decreased from 10,287 in 2025 to 7,982 in 2026. The number of candidates who appeared for the exam this year was 7,281. In contrast to the MBA test, the 2026 MCA question paper was reported to be tough. A highly difficult exam generally results in lower average scores. The combination of lower average scores and a smaller pool of applicants reduces overall competition. Therefore, the TANCET cutoff scores for MCA admissions are expected to decrease compared to 2025.
