LinkedIn ranking of MBA colleges are based only on alumni outcomes, such as jobs after graduation, career growth, promotions, leadership roles, diversity, and the strength of the alumni network.
Four Indian business schools have made it to the LinkedIn Top MBA Programs 2025. The Indian School of Business (ISB) has reached the 5th spot worldwide, its best-ever position. IIM Calcutta, IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Bangalore have also been placed in the global top 20 list.
The LinkedIn MBA rankings are different from regular academic lists. Its ranking of MBA colleges are based only on alumni outcomes, such as jobs after graduation, career growth, promotions, leadership roles, diversity, and the strength of the alumni network.
ISB, which was ranked 6th last year, has moved up to the 5th spot. Dean Professor Madan Pillutla said, “This LinkedIn ranking reflects the outstanding accomplishments of our alumni." He added that ISB is dedicated to developing leaders equipped to navigate complexity, drive innovation, and create significant impact in a rapidly changing global landscape. We are proud to have been a part of their journey as they continue to transform the world.”
Among the IIMs, Calcutta is ranked 16th, Ahmedabad 17th, and Bangalore 20th. IIM Lucknow and IIM Indore have also been included in the overall top 100 list.
IIM Lucknow in an X post shared: “This recognition is especially meaningful as the rankings are entirely data-backed, based on real alumni outcomes including career growth, leadership positions, and strong professional networks. It highlights the long-term success that IIM Lucknow graduates continue to achieve in today’s dynamic workplace.
This recognition highlights how Indian MBA programs are gaining ground globally. For students, it shows that top Indian institutes now stand alongside the best schools in the world when it comes to career outcomes.

Having a good academic profile for IIM admission is very critical. The top 6 IIMs lay a lot of emphasis on Class 10 and Class 12 score for selection of candidates for WAT-PI round. The academic profile is evaluated again at the time of preparation of final merit list. It has been seen in the past that some candidates despite having 99+ percentile, were not selected for PI round due to low score in Class 12.
The academic profile is assessed for academic as well as gender diversity. Which means a candidate who studied Arts in Class 12 may be selected for PI with lower marks than a candidate who studied Science in Class 12.
Candidates aiming for IIMs must know that while the importance of academic profile is very important for top IIMs, it is moderately important for rest of the IIMs. For, other top MBA colleges, overall profile matters more than academic score. So, if you do not have superlative scores in Class 10 and 12, build a good profile with work experience and extra curricular activities to increase your chances of selection.
To get admission in MBA at IIM Calcutta, candidates must qualify the CAT exam and attain the required percentile. The IIM Calcutta CAT Cutoff 2023 (Overall) for the General AI Category candidates was 99. Therefore, it was not possible for candidate having cutoff percentile of 90-95 to get MBA at IIM Calcutta.
Among the OBC AI category candidates also, the Cutoff percentile to get MBA at IIM Calcutta was 99. Thus, there is a very rare of change of getting admission at IIM Calcutta at this score.
