AIMA conducts MAT in three modes- CBT, PBT and IBT. Shiksha asked MBA aspirants which exam mode they prefer for MAT. Most of them chose CBT as their preference. Read more.
Management Aptitude Test or MAT is the only MBA entrance exam in India which is conducted in multiple modes. Candidates can choose Computer Based Test (CBT), Paper Based Test (PBT) and Internet Based Test (IBT). The test taker can choose to appear in any exam mode that they want. While CBT and PBT have always been on offer in MAT, IBT was offered during COVID-19 pandemic so that candidates could appear for the exam from home or any safe location.
In PBT mode, candidates have to take the test at a designated test centre and fill the OMR sheet. In MAT CBT mode, candidates have to take the test on a computer system at a designated test centre.
Shiksha conducted a poll asking MAT aspirants, which examination mode do they prefer and overwhelming majority said CBT.
Which exam mode do you prefer to appear for MAT?
Check the outcome of Shiksha Poll results below:
- 62 % respondents selected CBT mode
- 19% respondents selected IBT mode
- 11% respondents selected PBT mode
- 9% respondents were okay with any exam mode
The main reason behind CBT being the preference of majority respondents, could attributed to the fact that all other MBA entrance exams are conducted in CBT mode, and since today’s generation is used to using computer system/laptops in their daily life for studies and otherwise, it is the most convenient method. Secondly, unlike in PBT, where you can edit answer option, if you have marked an option incorrectly by mistake in OMR sheet, in CBT one can change their answer before test submission. MAT IBT mode also has less takers, than MAT CBT mainly because, many candidates may not own a laptop/desktop to be able to appear for the exam.
