The academic session at the India campus is scheduled to begin in August 2026. Initially, the campus will offer undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Business, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship.

Western Sydney University, Australia, has received formal approval from the University Grants Commission (UGC) to establish a foreign branch campus in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The academic session at the India campus is scheduled to begin in August 2026. Initially, the campus will offer undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Business, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship, with plans to expand into Data Science and Science disciplines in subsequent years.

The announcement was made at the Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam 2025 in New Delhi, in the presence of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, other Union and state ministers, and senior education leaders. The Greater Noida campus will also introduce โ€˜Launch Padโ€™, the universityโ€™s award-winning business and entrepreneurship incubator. Launch Pad has supported over 1,000 startups and SMEs globally and will provide Indian students with access to entrepreneurial education, research commercialisation, and innovation-driven skills training.

India has remained a key focus for Western Sydney University, with Indian students comprising 20% of its total international cohort. Currently, around 1,300 Indian students are enrolled across its Australian campuses. The university offers over 25 industry-aligned and Australian-accredited programmes aimed at enhancing job readiness for Indian students.

Vice-Chancellor and President, Distinguished Professor George Williams AO, said the India campus would create life-changing opportunities for students and contribute to Indiaโ€™s economic and social transformation. โ€œWestern Sydney University has a proud and long history of facilitating access to higher education. Our India campus reflects our deep commitment to international partnerships and delivering world-class education aligned with India's priorities,โ€ he said.

The university has built long-standing collaborations in India with over 30 State Agricultural Universities (SAUs), ICAR, IITs, IISc, and institutions like NABARD and ICICI Bank. These partnerships have supported dual degree programmes, short-term skill development, and major research initiatives. Notable joint projects include the Centre of Excellence in Hi-Tech Protected Cropping with ICAR, the Australia-India Water Centre which has trained 5,000 farmers on sustainable groundwater management, and a AUD 13 million nationwide pollination initiative completed in 2023.

The new campus is expected to align closely with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 by promoting global exposure, skilling, innovation, and entrepreneurship. The Greater Noida facility will offer industry-integrated learning, internships, and cross-border academic mobility under the universityโ€™s โ€˜One Universityโ€™ model, which enables seamless collaboration between international campuses. The curriculum will include future-facing, locally relevant content, with an added focus on agriculture and sustainability.
