70 Ukraine returned Indian medicos crack FMGE exam
As per reports, around 70 Ukraine returned medical students have cracked the FMGE exam to practice medicine in India. Out of 110 students, 72 cleared the FMGE exam on their first attempt and now planning to do their internship. This year, NMC allowed these FMG students to appear in the FMGE exam as a one-time measure due to the Russia-Ukraine war.
National Medical Commission (NMC) allowed China and Ukraine returned medical students to appear in Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) exam this year as a one-time measure. Now, the latest is nearly 70 students returned from Ukraine have cleared the exam to practice in India.
As per the TOI report, nearly 70 students out of a total of 110 students cleared the exam on their first attempt. These students, who received their degrees from AIG hospital, Gachibowli, Hyderabad are now looking forward to an internship in India.
When the Russia and Ukraine war broke out on February 24, 2022, scores of Indian citizens were stranded in Ukraine mostly medical students. The Indian government brought them back to the country but the uncertainty of the future continued to loom on them.
There is still a court case pending in the Supreme Court where many of Ukraine's returned medical students have demanded permission to continue their education in India. Worried about their futures many of these students have returned to the war-hit country Ukraine and others continue to demand to study in India.
