AIIMS Bibinagar collaboration

AIIMS Bibinagar and CIE (Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, at IIIT Hyderabad) conducted the MedCare AI Impact Hackathon. The healthcare hackathon is a one-of-a-kind innovation programme that encourages doctors, medical students, and health researchers to solve real-world medical problems using deep-tech research and innovation.

The event brought together 17 shortlisted teams, medical faculty, including doctors, researchers, and students participating in the programme. The aim was to connect clinical knowledge with AI-based research and development to support healthcare innovations from the ground level. Started as an effort by AIIMS Bibinagar, the hackathon focused on creating patient care apps, clinical tools, diagnostic solutions, and new models for delivering healthcare.

Participants got hands-on 1:1 mentorship, worked closely with faculty and attended expert talks from IIIT Hyderabad and startup teams during interactive sessions. The interactive session had two separate tracks — one for medical professionals and another for med-tech researchers. With the help of mentoring sessions, guided pitch training and idea refinement workshops, participants turned real-life clinical problems into practical, AI-driven healthcare solutions.

Prof. Bapi Raju, Professor & Head, Cognitive Sciences at IIIT Hyderabad, shared his delight, saying, "The MedCare AI Impact Hackathon program demonstrates how deep tech research and clinical practice can intersect to create impactful healthcare innovation.”

Further, Satish Kathirisetti, Seasoned Entrepreneur & Chief Mentor for medtech startups at CIE, added: "The MedCare AI Impact Hackathon reflects CIE’s vision of fostering innovation at the intersection of healthcare and technology. By empowering medical professionals to co-develop AI-driven solutions, we’re building a foundation for long-term impact in clinical practice and public health.”
