The MoU between Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology and the Indian Air Force aims to strengthen educational collaboration and enhance the educational and professional development of IAF officers in alignment with the armed force's vision of continuous learning and skill enhancement.
Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology (TIET), Patiala, has formed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Air Force (IAF) for academic collaboration and to provide educational opportunities to serve IAF personnel and their wards. This collaboration between TIET and the Indian Air Force is an important move to help IAF officers grow in their education and careers. It aims to support the Armed Forces' goal of lifelong learning and improving skills.
The collaboration is organised to ensure smooth enrollment of IAF personnel into TIET’s academic programmes, with dedicated nodal officers from both sides coordinating the academic process. A Joint Coordination Committee will be formed to manage and monitor the effective implementation of the MoU.
Remarking on the collaboration, Prof. (Dr.) Nair at TIET shared his delight, saying, “This association is a proud moment for TIET. We are dedicated to supporting nation-building by equipping our defence personnel with quality education and research opportunities.”
As per the agreement between IAF and TIET, TIET will deliver several academic benefits to presently under-service IAF officers. The financial benefits of the programme are as follows:
-
Full tuition fee waiver for full-time Ph.D. programs and a 50% fee reduction for part-time Ph.D. aspirants.
-
A 25% fee discount for up to five IAF officers enrolled in each regular postgraduate course.
-
Eligibility for scholarships and teaching assistantships (TA-ships) is similar to that offered to other TIET students.
