Conduct NEET PG 2021 exam as soon as possible: KARD writes to Prime Minister
Karnataka Association of Resident Doctors(KARD) has requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to speed up NEET PG 2021 exam conduction process as the covid situation is under control comparatively. NEET PG 2021 exam is needed to boost the manpower to tackle covid cases if the third wave of the corona strikes.
The Karnataka Association of Resident Doctors(KARD) has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding NEET PG 202`1 exam. In a letter dated July 5, the association has requested Prime Minister to conduct the exam as soon as possible as the situation is now conducive for the NEET PG 2021 exam due to declining cases of covid-19. The Resident Doctors Association said that NEET PG 2021 exam is the only way to increase the manpower and make the country better prepared to tackle the third wave of the corona.
Drawing Prime Minister’s attention to the situation where the exam has already been delayed for seven months, KARD said NEET PG 2021 exam was supposed to be held in January but postponed that time, anticipating the second wave of corona and keeping in mind the safety of the young doctors. “It is also noteworthy that most of the post-MBBS doctors have been preparing for this exam for more than a year and it would be unkind for the government to turn a blind eye towards their hard work,” the letter said.
In the first week of May, Prime Minister had announced that NEET PG 2021 exam will be postponed till August 31 and fresh pass-outs will be used for covid duties. It was also announced that the service of the final year PG students will be continued as Residents till a fresh batch joins.
The association also highlighted how resident doctors continued their covid duties despite their exams. “For more than a year, junior residents across the nation were the front liners in battling this pandemic. During the second wave, it was an incredibly difficult task to manage patients due to the huge burden on the healthcare system. As caseload increased, we were grossly understaffed and overworked beyond measure but still continued to contribute.”
