Students who wish to get admission to postgraduate courses offered at medical colleges in India can check the total number of seats through NEET PG here. The seat matrix helps to know the number of seats reserved in the NEET participating institutes. Knowing the number of NEET PG seats in India, students can prepare a list of colleges and courses for PG admission. Admission to the top medical courses in India is based on the NEET PG score. Students have to participate in the NEET PG counselling conducted by MCC.
There are a total of 72,111 PG medical seats in India, including MD (Doctor of Medicine), MS (Master of Surgery) and Diploma courses. According to the Union Health Minister J P Nadda PG seats have been increased by 39,460 (127%) from 2013014 (31,185 seats) to 2024-25 (73,111 seats).

NEET PG Seats Allocation Process
On the basis of the NEET PG cut off score, NBE releases merit list for 50% All India Quota (AIQ) candidates. The merit list mentions the names of those candidates who are called for the NEET PG counselling round. Candidates get admission into MD/MS/DNB courses on the basis of counselling. To participate in seat allotment, students have to register first. Thereafter, choices ahve to be declared and lock them in given deadline. Seat allotment result is released based on NEET PG rank, reservation fcator etc.
MCC, pay the registration fee, and fill the choice of course or colleges. Finally, MCC releases the result of NEET PG counselling in the form of a seat allotment list. NEET PG seats are allocated based on the options filled by the candidates and their All India Rank. A Total of four rounds of counseling, first, second, mop-up, and stray vacany round will be conducted by MCC for All India Quota seats.

NEET PG Seats Increased by 127% in 2023-24
The government has increased the number of PG seats over the years to strengthen the healthcare delivery system in India. As per Union Health Minister , the postgraduate seats have been increased by 127 percent from 2013-14 to 2023-24. As per the data provided by the Minister, there were 31,185 PG seats in 2013-14 which has increased to 73,111 in 2023-24.
