Delhi Medical Colleges Mandate 1-year Bond Service for MBBS, PG Medical Students

MBBS and PG medical students in Delhi will now be required to serve for one year in government-run hospitals or institutions under the GNCTD. Those who skip the mandatory bond service will have to pay a penalty of INR 15 lakh for MBBS and INR 20 lakh for PG courses.
Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) have implemented the one-year mandatory bond service policy for MBBS, PG medical students from the academic session 2025-26. As per the IPU admission brochure 2025, MBBS and PG medicos have to undergo a 1-year bond service after completing the programme in inclusion of the internship period. Students are mandatorily required to serve in medical institutes under the GNCT of Delhi for a period of one year.
The brochure states that the one-year service bond for all AIQ and state quota undergraduate and postgraduate medical students is mandatory after completion of their programme.
"Introduction of one- year service bond for all India quota and state quota undergraduate and postgraduate medical students after completion of their course (including internship period) in the medical institutions of Delhi, wherein the students passing out of the undergraduate/ post graduate (Including super- speciality courses), would be mandatorily required to serve in the medical institutions under GNCT of Delhi for a period of one year." The admission brochure states.
Mandatory Service for Students or INR 15–20L Bond Forfeiture
As per the Delhi Health Department's order dated September 19, 2024, the bond service team has been initiated by the university in compliance with the Delhi Health Department. Further, as per the Delhi Government's Gazette notification, undergraduate and postgraduate students completing their programme have to serve their duties under GNCT Delhi medical institutes or the INR 15 lacs bond (Undergraduate course) and INR 20 lacs bond (postgraduate course) will be forfeited, which were submitted during admission.
