Jamia Hamdard cancels all 150 MBBS and 49 PG seats for 2025–26 after ₹813 crore fund misuse flagged in CAG audit. NEET candidates left in uncertainty. The National Medical Commission’s latest seat matrix reflects zero seats for the Hamdard Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (HIMSR), triggering anxiety among students.

National Medical Commission’s latest seat matrix reflects zero seats for Hamdard Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (HIMSR). While Jamia Hamdard is waiting for a legal resolution, seat cancellation for this year is final.

Jamia Hamdard University has withdrawn all 150 MBBS and 49 postgraduate medical seats for academic year 2025–26. Decision has come at a time when NEET UG and NEET PG counselling is going on, leaving hundreds of candidates in uncertainty.

National Medical Commission in it latest seat matrix has marked zero seats for Hamdard Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (HIMSR), causing tension among students who had chosen college for medical admission.

This development follows serious financial irregularities flagged in a Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report, which revealed a diversion of ₹813 crore from HIMSR to Hamdard Education Society over a period spanning 2011 to 2023. This diversion, according to official records, violated multiple regulatory norms of both University Grants Commission (UGC) and NMC.

In a letter issued on June 6, Jamia Hamdard’s Registrar informed NMC that university no longer has administrative control over HIMSR’s online admissions portal due to interference by private parties. Vice-Chancellor Prof. M Afshar Alam noted that repeated efforts to bring HIMSR in line with UGC and institutional statutes had failed, leading university to approach Delhi High Court to seek legal relief and enforcement of governance standards.

Withdrawal of all medical seats has impacted NEET qualified candidates who were looking atHIMSR for undergraduate and postgraduate admission. With counselling process in full swing, sudden removal of this institute from seat matrix has disrupted plans of students and parents alike, especially those who had already registered HIMSR as one of their preferences.

The case is now before Delhi High Court, and outcome will likely determine whether HIMSR can be reinstated in medical admission process in coming years.
