MBA student arrested for hacking medical student's social media account in Maharashtra

A 22-year-old MBA student was arrested in Mumbai for allegedly hacking the social media accounts of a female medical student and sending her pictures clicked with her boyfriend to her family members, said a police official.

"The accused was nabbed after the victim, who is a medical student in a college attached to the KEM hospital, lodged a complaint. The incident came to light after the victim realised that someone had hacked her e-mail account, Instagram and Google password and sent her pictures clicked with her boyfriend to her family members,” senior inspector Jitendra Pawar of Bhoiwada police station said, as reported by The Print.

“With the help of technical inputs, police nabbed the accused from his residence. He was arrested under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 354-D (stalking) and other sections of the Information Technology (IT) Act," added the police.

The accused student was arrested late at night on Tuesday from Daund in the Pune district.

The Background

Investigation revealed that the girlfriend of the accused was studying with the victim and his girlfriend asked the victim several times that she should meet her boyfriend outside the college, but when she refused to do so, the girlfriend planned to teach the victim a lesson, said the police.

As per the plan, the accused hacked the victim’s social media accounts and sent her photos with her boyfriend to her parents.

Further investigation into the case is going on, said the police.
