Bihar Government has announced to offer Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) course education in Hindi. With this, Bihar will become the second state, after Madhya Pradesh, to offer medical education in Hindi. 

State health minister Mangal Pandey, on Tuesday, announced that from the upcoming academic session, medicos will have the option to get medical education in Hindi. 

Pandey further notified that the Health Department of Bihar, under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, has taken this decision. The discussion also included a detailed analysis of several aspects such as the availability of the MBBS curriculum and textbooks in Hindi. Besides, MBBS education in Hindi will promote the language and create its recognition at the global level. 

MBBS Hindi Course Will be as per AIIMS Delhi Syllabus 

Reportedly, the new MBBS Hindi course in Bihar will be in accordance with the AIIMS Delhi syllabus. The students who qualify the NEET UG exam will be able to get admission to medical colleges in Bihar. Subsequently, they will get the option to study MBBS in Hindi. Approximately around 85,000 government schools in Bihar predominantly use Hindi as a medium of education.

Madhya Pradesh Was the First State to Offer Medical Education in Hindi

Bihar will be the second state, followed by Madhya Pradesh, to offer medical education in Hindi. The initiative to offer medical education in Hindi in the state of Madhya Pradesh was taken by Vishwas Sarang, Education minister of Madhya Pradesh last year.
