MoA organises meeting for SCO countries' experts and practioners of traditional medicine
Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, MoA in his welcome address emphasized developing a traditional medicine strategy for SCO countries and its alignment with WHO Traditional Medicine Strategy which can be beneficial for SCO member states. At the SCO summit at Samarkand on September 16, 2022, PM Modi proposed to take initiative for a new SCO Working Group on Traditional Medicine.
The Ministry of Ayush and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare have organised a meeting of experts and practitioners of traditional medicine from SCO member countries under India’s Chairmanship of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Heads of State (2022-23).
The theme of this meeting was “Developing SCO strategy on deepening cooperation in traditional medicine." This meeting focussed on increasing awareness about the current state of traditional medicine and its best practices among SCO member states.
Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, MoA in his welcome address emphasized on developing a traditional medicine strategy for SCO countries and its alignment with WHO traditional medicine strategy may be beneficial to the SCO member states.
"The SCO member states share many convergence areas in terms of geo-climatic conditions, long historical cultural relations, trade, language, food habits, etc. Developing a traditional medicine strategy for SCO countries and its alignment with WHO traditional medicine strategy may be beneficial to the SCO member states, observers and dialogue partners to work on traditional medicine in terms of defining the standards of education, research, products as well as practices," he said.
At the SCO summit at Samarkand on September 16, 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposed to take initiative for a new SCO Working Group on Traditional Medicine.
"Today the deliberation started with welcome address by secretary MoA, Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha," tweeted MoA.
MoA also organised a morning yoga session for G20 delegates during the first sustainable finance working group meeting under G20 India Presidency in Guwahati.
