NCAHP Releases Curriculum for 17 Allied Health Courses Mandatory from 2026-27; Check Details

National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions has released a common curriculum for 17 allied health courses. Chairperson Dr. Yagna Unmesh Shukla announced that the guidelines will be mandatory for all healthcare institutions from 2026-27 session. The demand for allied health professionals is increasing. Fields like Nursing, Physiotherapy, and Occupational Therapy are becoming popular among students because of NEET UG requirement for BPT and BOT courses. She highlighted that all healthcare institutions have to adopt the prescribed curriculum for the prescribed courses from the 2026–27 session.
NCAHP Curriculum 2026-27: Courses Included
Speaking at "Mangalore Physiocon" on April 10, Dr. Shukla highlighted that the 17 courses include Occupational Therapy, Respiratory Technology, Medical Physics, and Nuclear Medicine Technology. She also said that Karnataka State Allied & Healthcare Professions Council is active and it would be the first state to adopt the guidelines.
Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao apprised the government of its support. He said that updates would make courses more effective and provide stable career paths for students. She further said that the commission will soon notify minimum standards and regulations for institutions to ensure same curriculum across the country.
"Occupational Therapy is in high demand abroad and has its uses in the care of children with special needs to make them ambulant. Allied sciences like Forensic Science and Embryology were gaining ground as well," she added.
