NEET UG 2025 aspirants are facing confusion and anxiety after the NTA portal began requesting Aadhaar details for verification, even from candidates who chose alternative identification methods during the registration process for the NEET 2025 exam scheduled to be held on May 4, 2025.

NEET 2025 Latest news and Updates

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the National Eligibility and Entrance Test for Undergraduates (NEET-UG) for the academic session 2025 on May 4, 2025. Meanwhile, applicants have expressed confusion and anxiety after being requested to submit their Aadhaar details for verification, despite the fact that the NTA earlier allowed applicants to register for NEET using identity methods other than Aadhaar.

Several candidates who have applied for the NEET UG exam 2025 have received a message urging them to switch to Aadhar-based authentication. Later, when those candidates tried to switch to Aadhaar-based authentication, they were unable to go through the verification process even after trying several times.

Reportedly, students were asked to check their emails for a link to update the authentication mode in Aadhar by 11:50 PM. When candidates completed the formality, they received a message "Your Aadhaar authentication form has not been submitted. Please try again."

The NTA decided to proceed with Aadhaar verification following widespread reports of irregularities, such as paper leaks and security breaches during the NEET last year.  As a result, in January, the NTA published a notification advising applicants to register for NEET UG 2025 using their Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) ID, a newly developed Aadhaar-linked digital record of academic achievements and authentication based on Aadhaar. However, the department subsequently clarified that APAAR integration is not required.

NEET UG 2025 Admit Card Out

Meanwhile, NTA has released the NEET admit card 2025 at the official website for all candidates who have completed the registration before the deadline. Candidates can visit the NTA official website to download NEET UG hall ticket using their allotted credentials.

Q:   Can I request to change my NEET exam city after receiving the NEET city slip?
A:

No, once the NEET city slip is issued by NTA, it is not permitted to request for change in the exam city. NTA tries to allot the NEET exam city based on candidates' first preference. However, there may be situations where it is not possible to allot the preferred city. Hence, candidates have to make the necessary travel or accommodation arrangements accordingly, instead of approaching NTA to change the exam city.
