Q:   What is the date of NEET 2024?

A:

NTA announced the NEET 2024 exam date on September 19, 2023. NEET 2024 exam will be conducted on May 5. The result of NEET 2024 will be declared on June 14, 2024. The NEET 2024 application process is being conducted from February 9, 2024, to March 9, 2024. While the NEET exam dates were scheduled in September and July a couple of years ago owing to the pandemic situation, it took a toll on the medical admission schedule. To bridge this gap, NTA conducted NEET in May last year. The trend is being continued for NEET 2024 as well.

Q:   Who conducts the NEET UG exam?

A:

NEET UG exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). NTA has been conducting NEET since 2019. Prior to that, the exam was conducted by CBSE. The role of NTA is to conduct the application process, release the admit card, conduct the exam across centres, declaration of answer keys and result. The counselling process is conducted separately by national and state authorities for the All India Quota and State Quota seats. While NTA is the conducting authority, the National Medical Commission (NMC) acts as a consulting authority for NEET for NTA. Factors such as syllabus and eligibility criteria are formulated and revised by NMC and NTA announces those on its official website, on behalf of NMC.

Q:   What are the regional language options available for NEET UG 2023?

A:
NEET UG question paper will be available in 13 languages. Apart from Hindi and English candidates can choose from Tamil, Urdu, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Odia, Assamese, Kannada, Malayalam, Punjabi and Telugu. Candidates have to enter their language preferences in the application form and will have to choose their exam centre preference accordingly. During the exam, candidates must ensure that they have received the NEET question paper in the language they have opted for, otherwise, they should report the same to the invigilators. During preparation also, candidates must prepare in the particular language and solve previous years' question papers and mock tests in the regional language.

NEET 2024 Notification: Latest Updates

NTA released the NEET exam date on September 19, 2023. The NEET 2024 notification was released along with the application form. The NEET notification 2024 was released offline in the national dailies as well as online, on the official website of the exam, neet.ntaonline.in. With over 20 lakh test-takers, the NEET exam is considered the most important medical entrance examination in India for UG admissions.

Last year, 20.87 lakh candidates applied for NEET and 20.38 lakh candidates appeared for the exam. Around 11.45 lakh candidates qualified for NEET 2023.

Since 2020, the NEET exam date was postponed to September due to the COVID-19 pandemic and it impacted the entire admission schedule. In 2021, the exam was conducted on July 17, which was somewhat similar to the original NEET schedule in the pre-pandemic era, which used to be conducted in May every year.

Q:   What is the full form of NEET exam?

A:
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test or NEET-UG is an entrance examination in India, for students who wish to study any graduate medical course (MBBS/ dental course (BDS) or postgraduate course (MD / MS) in government or private medical colleges in India.NEET-UG (Undergraduate), for MBBS and BDS courses, are conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). NEET-UG replaced the All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT) and all individual MBBS exams conducted by states or colleges themselves in 2013.

Q:   How many times can I appear for NEET?

A:
According to NTA a candidate can appear for NEET any number of times. There is no restriction on the number of attempts permitted. Moreover, ever since the upper age limit of NEET has been removed, there is even more flexibility in terms of the number of NEET attempts. The exam is conducted once a year, hence candidates can appear only once in an academic year. But unless candidates fulfil the eligibility criteria, they would not be able to get admission even if they score the qualifying cutoff marks for NEET.

Q:   Is there any age limit for NEET exam?

A:
The upper age limit criterion has been removed by NMC on March 9, 2022, based on the judgment made by the Supreme Court of India. Earlier, the case was under trial in the apex court. However, there is a lower age limit of 17 years as of December 31 of the academic year. Unless candidates meet the lower age limit criterion, they would not be considered eligible to appear for NEET 2023.
