NEET PG 2024: SC Dismisses Plea for Fresh AIQ Round 3 Counselling
The SC bench of Justices B.R. Gavai and K. Vinod Chandran issued the order after the lawyer representing the National Medical Commission (NMC) explained that such a decision would create a ripple effect on the state-level counselling process for MD, MS admissions.
The Supreme Court rejected a request to order the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) to reconduct the AIQ (All India Quota) NEET PG 2024 round 3 counselling process. The plea was based on claims of seat blocking due to delays in completing the state-level round 2 counselling process in several states including Madhya Pradesh.
A bench of Justices B.R. Gavai and K. Vinod Chandran made the decision after the lawyer for the National Medical Commission (NMC) exemplified that issuing such an order would cause a cascading effect on all states, as reported by Live Law.
The court was not inclined to issue any directions regarding the petitioners' request to participate in the stray round of counselling and mentioned "Very complicated. If we entertain the petition of these 3 (petitioners), we will have another 30, some casualties are there, this was a problem only in Madhya Pradesh, it was not a problem in other states."
Reportedly, three NEET PG 2024 candidates urged the Supreme Court to direct MCC to cancel the AIQ round 3 NEET PG 2024 counselling and conduct it afresh. The petitioners also requested a direction for a fourth round of counselling to fill leftover seats that were blocked by candidates from states where the second round of state counselling was not completed.
