NEET PG 2026 Exam Pattern

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences has released the NEET PG 2026 information bulletin. NBEMS has introduced major changes to the test structure and the exam centre selection process. This year, the NEET PG 2026 exam pattern has been revised with the number of questions reduced from 200 to 180. The official information bulletin includes several important pieces of information such as the registration schedule, fee structure, and new guidelines. and the NEET PG 2026 revised exam pattern.Β 

NEET PG Total Questions Reduced by NBEMS

The NEET PG 2026 question paper pattern has been revised. The NEET PG total questions have been reduced this year. Previously, candidates had to solve 200 multiple-choice questions. Now, the NEET PG 2026 exam will contain only 180 multiple-choice questions. Each question will have four response options. However, the marking scheme remains exactly the same as before. Candidates get four marks for every correct answer. One mark is deducted for every wrong response. No marks are awarded for unattempted questions.

Q: Β  What type of questions are asked in NEET PG?

Objective questions are asked in NEET PG exam. tpe of the question is multiple choice where one question can have multiple answers. keeping this in mind, candidates have to select best option of correct response. 

Q: Β  Will there be negative marking in the NEET PG exam?
A: 

Yes. Mark is deducted for each wrong answer in NEET PG. For each right answer, candidates get 4 marks and for each wrong answer, 1 mark is deducted. As there is provision of the negative marking in exam, students are advised to answer only those questions where they feel confidence of right answer.

Q: Β  What is the format for NEET PG exam?

Formet refers to exam pattern. NEET PG exam is held in computer-based mode. A total of 200 multiple choice questions is asked in exam. As per official brochure, exam duration is 3.5 hours. Candidates get 4 marks for right answer and -1 for wrong response. As there is a negative marking in NEET PG exam, students should attempt only those questions where they feel confidence of right answers.

The NEET PG 2026 exam date is August 30, 2026. The exam will be conducted in a single shift from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Eligible students must visit the natboard.edu.in registration link to fill forms till July 21, 2026. For the ease of students, the direct link to apply is provided below.Β 

NEET PG 2026: Students to Select States, not Cities

For NEET PG 2026, test city allocation will not be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis. Candidates this year now have to select three preferred test states duringΒ NEET PG 2026 registrationΒ process.Β The first preference must be in the state mentioned in theΒ application form of NEET PG 2026.Β
