NEET SS 2024 Counselling Round 3 Postponed Until Further Notice

The NEET SS 2024 counselling Round 3 dates have been postponed by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). The original date of commencement of the NEET SS 2024 Counselling Round 3 was scheduled to begin on June 24, 2025, with the registration process, but has now been delayed. On the official website, MCC has stated, β€œThe Stray Round for SS Counselling 2024 will be rescheduled. The revised schedule will be displayed soon on MCC website.”

MCC had opened the NEET SS counselling 2024 seat resignation window from June 21 to June 24, 2025. Only those candidates who qualified for INI SS 2025, and are participating in the INI SS counselling process could resign their NEET SS 2024 counselling seat allotted in the first two rounds. Also, after resigning the seats, they would not be eligible to participate in the further rounds of NEET SS counselling 2024.

So far, MCC has released three lists of INI SS resignations, consisting of 140 candidates in total. Meanwhile, the INI SS 2025 counselling process is underway from June 16, 2025, onwards. As of now, the schedule for two rounds has been announced, which will conclude on July 14, 2025.

NEET SS 2024 Counselling Round 3 Guidelines by MCC

MCC has shared the following guidelines regarding the NEET SS counselling 2024 Round 3 or the Stray Round.

  • It is noteworthy that Stray Round of SS Counselling 2024 will be an upgradation round. Candidates of Round-1 & Round-2 joined so far can upgrade themselves in Stray Round. Hence, candidates are advised to take an informed decision whether they want to resign from their Round-1 or Round-2 seat or want to upgrade.
  • However, there will be No Resignation in Stray Round of SS Counselling 2024. If a candidate is not upgraded and the earlier seat is retained, then the candidate will have to continue studying on the retained seat.

The NEET SS 2024 counselling process had started on May 13, 2025. While Round 1 concluded on May 30, 2025, Round 2 was conducted from June 2 to June 19, 2025. The academic session commenced on June 20, 2025.

Q: Β  What is the total duration of the NEET SS counselling?
A:

The total duration of the NEET SS counselling ranged for around three months. There will be three to four rounds of counselling. The total duration for each round is approximately 15 days. The number of rounds of NEET SS counselling varies depending on the vacant seats or revision in cutoff. 

Q: Β  How many rounds are conducted for NEET SS counselling process?
A:

There are approximately three to four rounds of counselling for the NEET SS exam. Last year, there were originally two rounds of NEET SS counselling and later, an additional round was announced since the NEET SS cutoff was revised. This year also, it can be expected that there will be three rounds of NEET SS counselling. Followed by this, there will be additional rounds, in case there is a change in the cutoff or seat matrix, the number of NEET SS counselling rounds will increase. 

Q: Β  Who will be eligible to register for the NEET SS counselling Round 2?
A:

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has stated the following eligibility criteria for participating in the NEET SS 2024 counselling Round 2. 

  • Registered candidates who were not allotted seat in Round 1
  • Candidates who have reported/joined at allotted institute during the joining period of round-1 of allotment and submitted willingness for participating in second round up-gradation as 'Yes'. 
  • Candidates who have not reported at the allotted institute during Round-1 and taken exit with forfeiture option. Such candidates are eligible for participation in Round-2 of the counselling by making fresh payment (registration and security deposit).
