NEET SS Special Stray Round Seat Matrix 

NEET SS Counselling 2025: Medical Counselling Committee has released special stray round seat matrix for NEET SS 2026 today.  It must be noted that seat matrix is for NEET Super Speciality (SS) counselling 2025 and includes vacant seats in Doctorate of Medicine (DM), Master of Chirurgiae (MCh) and DNB Super Speciality (DNB SS) programmes.

NEET SS Special Stray Vacancy Round is being conducted after qualifying percentile for NEET SS 2025 was reduced from existing 50th percentile to 30th percentile, following Supreme Court order dated September 17, 2026. NEET SS vacant seats included in matrix are those remaining after Round 2 of SS counselling.

The 68-page NEET SS Special Stray Vacancy Round seat matrix contains details such as course, stream, state, institute, quota, branch, category and total seats available. Candidates can check the institute-wise and speciality-wise vacancies before filling their choices.

NEET SS Seat Matrix

NEET SS seat matrix includes vacancies across different super speciality groups, including Medical, Surgical, Anaesthesiology, Critical Care Medicine, Paediatrics and other speciality groups. It covers both DM/MCh and DNB SS programmes offered by participating government, private and deemed institutions.

NEET SS 2025 matrix also includes vacancies from several states and Union Territories. Tamil Nadu, for instance, has multiple DM, MCh and DNB SS vacancies listed across government and private medical institutions.

Eligibility for NEET SS Special Stray Vacancy Round

NEET SS Special Stray Vacancy Round is a non-upgradation round. As per latest MCC notice dated September 28, candidates who were not allotted any seat in Round 1 or Round 2 can participate. Candidates who became eligible following reduction of qualifying percentile from 50th to 30th percentile can also participate.

Those who were allotted a seat in Round 1 or Round 2 but did not join allotted seat are also permitted to participate. However, such candidates will have to complete fresh registration and pay the applicable fees, as they exited the counselling process with forfeiture. This is a non-upgradation round, candidates should carefully fill their choices based on the seats available in the Special Stray Vacancy Round.

Notice regarding NEET SS Special Stray Vacancy Round 2025

In its notice regarding conduction of Special Stray Vacancy Round of SS Counselling 2025, MCC stated that this round is being conducted in compliance with Supreme Court order. The qualifying NEET SS percentile has consequently been reduced from 50th percentile to 30th percentile for this round.

This round is being conducted for DM, MCh and DNB SS seats that remained vacant after Round 2. MCC has clarified that candidates who did not receive a seat in earlier rounds and those who became eligible after percentile reduction can participate. Those who had received seats but did not join them can also participate after fresh registration and payment of fees.

MCC has further stated that in-service vacant seats of Tamil Nadu, if any remain vacant after Tamil Nadu state counselling Stray Round, are expected to be reverted by state counselling authority on September 28, 2026. Once these seats are received by MCC, they will be added to seat matrix for All India SS Counselling 2025.
