Meanwhile, the Supreme Court of India has refused to transfer the Delhi High Court's case where a candidate has filed a petition to grant compensatory marks on the ground of being mentally disturbed due to the alleged defective biometric verification system at the examination centre.
The Delhi High Court has asked the National Testing Agency (NTA) to submit its response for the NEET UG 2025 petition filed by a candidate seeking compensatory marks on the ground of mental disturbance because of the defective biometric verification system at the NEET UG 2025 exam centre.
Reportedly, the Delhi HC has issued a notice to NTA on the grounds of the candidate's plea and asked to submit their response to the petition. Further, the High Court has asked NTA to preserve CCTV recordings, logbook entries and any other record of the examination centre. The petitioner appared for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) 2025 on May 4, 2025 at Trishla Devi Kanohar Lal Balika Inter College in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh.
NEET UG Delhi HC Hearing: What Was The Case?
The petitioner claimed that throughout the authentication process prior to the test, the biometric verification wasn't working at the test centre, compelling him to file an application for clearance to enter the examination hall.
He indicated that he was permitted to enter the exam centre five minutes prior to the start of the test. While the examination was ongoing, he was directed to leave for biometric verification and had to send an application in both English and Hindi to the facility superintendent, which caused him substantial mental distress while taking the exam, according to his petition, as reported by The Hindu.
The candidate was reported to have scored 98.86% in the national-level undergraduate medical exam. The petitioner sought various reliefs, including compensatory scores in the medical entrance exam and the preservation of CCTV recordings from the test centre in question.
