NEET UG 2025: Two Aspirants Die by Suicide Over Fear of Failing Medical Entrance Test
Two NEET UG aspirants from Hyderabad died by suicide due to distress over their performance in the NEET UG exam 2025, conducted on May 4.
Hyderabad Police have reported two separate incidents of NEET aspirants who committed suicide a day after the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Undergraduates (NEET-UG) held on May 4, 2025. Reportedly, the two students died by suicide owing to the pressure and fear of failing the national-level undergraduate medical examination. Janga Pooja (18) from Jagtial district and Rayi Manoj Kumar from Adilabad district (17) died by suicide over distress over their performance in the entrance examination, as reported by TOI.
As per the media sources, Janga Pooja from Jagtial District first appeared for the national-level medical examination in the year 2023 and did not secure the desired results. Later, she took coaching in the coaching class in order to prepare for the NEET UG exam held on May 4. The fear of failing in the entrance test made her cross-check the answers after getting home, and when she found out she was not securing a good rank this time either, she committed suicide.
In another case, Rayi Manoj Kumar, a NEET aspirant from Adilabad district in Telangana, died by suicide because of distress over not performing well in the NEET examination. Manoj took the NEET coaching in Hyderabad. When he returned home after the examination, he hanged himself.

The NTA has not released the NEET 2026 exam city list yet. The number of exam cities will be known after the release of NEET notification 2026.
