NEET UG 2025 MP High Court: The Madhya Pradesh High Court (MP HC) has set aside an earlier order by a single bench directing the National Testing Agency (NTA) to conduct a re-test for NEET 2025 affected candidates due to power outages during rain in centres of Ujjain and Indore. However, the MP HC division bench of Justice Vivek Rusia and Justice Binod Kumar Dwivedi further directed NTA and other authorities related to the examination process to ensure that, going forward, all necessary arrangements for conducting the examination are in place.
"In order to avoid such a situation in future, NTA as well as the local administration of each district are directed to ensure that all the measures, especially the continuity of power supply by way of regular supply or by way of alternate mode of supply, proper sitting arrangement, availability of air and cooling etc. It is the responsibility of the local administration to prepare the list of centres which can be used for these types of important examinations by any of the agencies", the bench stated.
NEET UG 2025 High Court: Power Cut Disrupted Exam, Say Students
The students expressed that on the NEET UG exam day, heavy rain and a thunderstorm caused a long power cut at the examination centres. They claimed there was no proper power backup available at the premises, which made it difficult for them to write the exam on June 4, 2025. They also alleged that the examination authorities failed to provide backup lighting, like generators or inverters, affecting their ability to complete the test with their full concentration.
The division bench conceded that the severe weather on the exam day was unexpected and they were beyond the control of both the NTA and local authorities of the examination centre. The MP High Court remarked that the sudden shift in weather caught everyone off guard, and it was unfortunate that students had to appear for the exam amid such unplanned disruptions.
