NEET UG 2027 CBT Plan Under Scrutiny: MPs Raise Concerns for Rural Students; Proposes Graded Exam System Like UPSC
NEET UG 2027 CBT plan has received scrutiny from a parliamentary panel. Several MPs raised concerns about the CBT mode and demanded action for students who are not tech-friendly. The committee also discussed rechecking late-entry candidate rules and proposed a graded exam structure like UPSC exams.
NEET UG 2027 in CBT mode has drawn attention from stakeholders across the country. A parliamentary panel reviewed NEET UG reform 2027 on July 1. Members of the committee applauded the smooth conduct of the Re-NEET 2026 exam on June 21. However, they raised concerns regarding the future of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Examination. The proposed NEET 2027 CBT mode is drawing attention from stakeholders and lawmakers.
Several people from the committee stressed that a sudden shift to a computer-based test must not adversely affect poor students. Aspirants from marginalised and digitally disadvantaged backgrounds may not have access to computers. The panel said that these students should not face an unfair disadvantage in the NEET 2027 exam.
MPs Raise Flags Over Computer-Based NEET 2027 Exam
As per media reports, Former ISRO chairman R. Radhakrishnan headed the committee on NEET exam reforms. Higher Education Secretary Vineet Joshi and NTA Director General Abhishek Singh also appeared in the meeting. They discussed the key takeaways from the June 21 NEET re-exam. The computer-based NEET 2027 model created a debate among the members. Many of them argued that no student should lose a medical seat due to a lack of technology.
Relief Discussed for Latecomers in NEET Exam
Reportedly, the parliamentary meeting highlighted concerns about candidates who arrive slightly late for the exam. Many students are not allowed entry at the exam centre on time at 1:30 PM. The panel has urged NTA to revise NEET late entry rules. They further advised if a separate exam for nursing and other allied courses can be conducted.
