NEET 2027: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced that NEET UG examination will be conducted in computer-based test (CBT) mode from next year following controversy over alleged paper leak in 2026 medical entrance exam. Addressing press conference after government confirmed NEET UG 2026 re-exam date, Pradhan said move is part of broader reforms aimed at strengthening transparency and integrity of NEET.

This announcement comes days after National Testing Agency (NTA) cancelled NEET UG 2026 exam held on May 3 amid allegations of irregularities and paper leak. The re-exam of NEET will now be conducted on June 21. Pradhan said strict action would be taken against those responsible for alleged paper leak and assured students that accountability would be fixed wherever lapses are found.

He further stated that candidates appearing for NEET re-examination will be given additional 15 minutes to fill out OMR sheet. Earlier, while announcing cancellation of May 3 examination, NTA had said decision was taken based on inputs received from law enforcement agencies which indicated that sanctity of exam process may have been compromised.

The alleged irregularities were initially probed by Rajasthan Special Operations Group (SOG). Now, investigation has now been transferred to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which has made multiple arrests in connection with NEET UG paper leak allegations.

The NTA has not released the NEET OMR Sheet 2026 as of now. The sheet will be released anytime soon on the official website- neet.nta.nic.in.

Q:   If I opt to participate in second round of NEET UG counseling, will my allotted seat of first round be cancelled?

In case candidates are not allotted any seat in the second round of the NEET UG counselling, the earlier allotted seat in Round 1 will be retained. However, on up-gradation of a seat in the second round, the earlier allotted seat in Round 1 will automatically be cancelled and allotted to another candidate. Therefore, candidates are advised to fill in only higher choices or any other choice which they prefer over the earlier allotted seat, for second round.

Q:   When will NTA release NEET OMR Sheet 2026?
A: 

The NTA will release the NEET OMR sheet 2026 soon. It was the first time that the agency released the provisional answer key separately. Candidates will be able to download the OMR answer sheet by logging to their registered accounts using the application number and password.
