No Re-Test for NEET 2025 Power Outage Affected Candidates; Rules MP High Court

A Division Bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court has stayed the earlier order passed by a single bench directing a NEET 2025 re-exam for 75 NEET candidates who were affected by a power outage during the examination held on May 4. This development halts the proposed retest of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Undergraduates for affected candidates.
NEET 2025 Retest Latest News: The Division Bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court has stayed the order to conduct a retest of 75 National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) candidates affected by a power outage during the examination on May 4. The Division Bench, consisting of Justice Vivek Rusia and Justice Binod Kumar Dwivedi of the Indore bench of the High Court, has given this verdict after hearing the arguments of all the parties implicated in the appeal filed by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
Recently, a single bench of the MP High Court in Indore, led by Justice Subodh Abhyankar, ordered a re-exam for 75 students who were affected during the test. The court said the decision was based on Article 14 of the Constitution, which ensures equality and fairness, as the students faced problems that weren’t their fault.
The single bench of the MP HC noted that the power failure produced an uneven playing field, as some students at the same centres had access to sufficient sunlight while others did not, as reported by Medical Dialogues.
The Single Bench of the Madhya Pradesh HC ordered the NTA to schedule the NEET UG 2025 retest as soon as practicable and to consider exclusively the new scores for the affected candidates' ranking.

Till last year, candidates were provided N95 masks at the NEET exam centre which was mandatory to be used by candidates. They had to dispose of their own masks before entering the exam centre at the designated bin. However, since the intensity of Covid has reduced as compared to the last two years, this year candidates may not be provided masks at the centre. The information will be confirmed after the release of the NEET admit card. However, it is recommended that they wear face masks for the entire duration. This should be done to ensure their and other test-takers' safety.
