Overseas delegation to visit AIIMS Jammu today

An overseas delegation of healthcare experts led by Prof Amrik Singh Sohal from Monash University (Australia) will visit AIIMS Jammu today for three days to exchange ideas. The delegation will meet the senior executives and clinicians at the medical institute and hold a workshop entitled: “Building Lean, Green and Digital Hospitals”.

A delegation of healthcare experts from overseas will be visiting AIIMS-Jammu for three days from February 1 to 3, 2023 to exchange ideas with their counterparts in India, said Prof (Dr) Shakti Kumar Gupta, ED & CEO, AIIMS Jammu.

“Their visit to Jammu will include holding meetings with senior executives and clinicians at AIIMS-Jammu and holding a workshop entitled ‘Building Lean, Green and Digital Hospitals’," said Prof (Dr) Shakti Gupta, as per State Times.

The delegation will be led by Professor Amrik Singh Sohal from Monash Business School, Monash University, Australia and will include Prof Julie Wolfram Cox (Monash University), Prof Julie Davies (University College London, UK), Associate Professor Glen Croy (Monash University), and two of the leading consultant surgeons from Melbourne- Dr Geoff Cox and Dr Janet Hsuan.

"‘Lean in Healthcare’ became popular in many Western countries almost two decades ago. Based on the Toyota Production System, Lean focusses in eliminating waste and optimizing processes. Resource scarcity, climate change and environment impact from our processes and wastes are motivating many hospitals to adopt ‘green’ practices, including adopting United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, Triple Bottom Line thinking, Circular Economy Practices and Environmental Management Systems," he said.

The ‘Digital Healthcare’ is currently a major driving force for many countries to modernize their healthcare systems/hospitals and support integration between health and social care providers. AIIMS-Jammu is making major investments in digital technologies and aims to create a regional digital healthcare hub, he further said.

“In order to build capacity in Lean, Green and Digital health systems in Indian healthcare institutions, AIIMS Jammu and Monash University aims to organize a one-day workshop on Building Lean, Green and Digital Hospitals on 2nd February 2023 to be held at AIIMS Jammu and also visit the construction site of AIIMS at Vijaypur, Jammu,” he added.
