Noting that over 60 percent of AIIMS Rishikesh students are female, President Murmu highlighted women's participation in the field of policy making and tertiary healthcare offering a huge positive social change in India. She further appreciated AIIMS Rishikesh's move in the field of CAT T-cell therapy and Stem Cell Research.

President Visit at AIIMS

AIIMS Rishikesh welcomed The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu as their guest of honour and speaker at the fourth convocation of AIIMS Rishikesh held on April 23, 2024, at Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. 

Addressing the occasion, President Murmu said that offering high-quality education in the field of medicine is an achievement for all AIIMS, including AIIMS Rishikesh. AIIMS has been offering more and more people the best and most affordable treatment and more meritorious students to get an education in AIIMS. 

Positive Social Change

Further, President Murmu addressed that as 60 percent of students of AIIMS Rishikesh are female students, this highlights a huge and positive social change in numerous fields including policy-making or tertiary healthcare. 

Furthermore, the President also suggested about importance of using the latest technology for the best interest of society and shall be a priority for institutes like AIIMS Rishikesh. She further appreciated AIIMS Rishikesh's move in the field of CAT T-cell therapy and Stem Cell Research. 

She requested this institution to move forward keeping an ace in such areas. She stated that the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics will increase with increadsing rate in diagnostics and treatment. She expressed trust that these changes will be increasingly put to most effective use by the AIIMS Rishikesh.

Attention to Public Health and Community in Uttarakhand

The speech further talked about how due to lack of sunlight and local food habits, women are affected by diseases like osteoporosis and anaemia in Uttarakhand. She urges AIIMS Rishikesh to pay attention to public health and community engagement a little more to contribute to a ‘Healthy India’ and a ‘Developed India’.
