Uttarakhand: Two more arrested in BAMS degree racket
In a fake Bachelor of Ayurveda Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) degree racket in Uttarakhand, an SIT probe is going on and two more fake Ayurveda practitioners were arrested in this case, as confirmed by Police. Till now, 14 got arrested in this case where these fake practitioners bought fake degrees to practice in the region.
The Uttarakhand police have arrested two more fake Ayurveda practitioners related to a fake Bachelor of Ayurveda Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) degree racket in the region. An SIT investigation is going on in this case and till now, 14 are arrested, as confirmed by the police.
The 14 arrested till now are among 36 fake Ayurveda practitioners in Uttarakhand.
The two arrested now are identified as Ashfaq Ahmad (39) and Jyoti Kumari (38). They bought fake degrees from the arrested mastermind of the racket Imlakh Khan, Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police Daleep Singh Kunwar said, as reported by The Print.
Ahmad ran a private Ayurveda clinic in Dehradun and Kumari at Bhagwanpur in Haridwar district with the fake BAMS degrees they had bought from Khan and Ahmad told the SIT that he had bought the fake BAMS degree from Khan for INR 7 lakh.
The police informed that Imlakh Khan, the mastermind of the racket, had been arrested from Ajmer district in Rajasthan by the Uttarakhand Special Task Force on February 2, 2023. He is a native of Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh and more than 600 fake degrees and related certificates from universities in Delhi, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Karnataka and one Ukrainian university have been seized from Khan.
The police are also investigating if he was also dealing with fake medical degrees.
