More than 60 school students test COVID-19 positive in Odisha

As per the data, Anwesha Hostel at Kotlaguda made nearly 257 inmates undergo RT-PCR test by the rapid response team of the Health Department on May 4. Among them, 44 tested positive for COVID-19.

64 students test COVID-19 positive in Odisha

COVID-19 in Odisha Schools: More than 60 students in Odisha’s Rayagada district have tested positive for novel coronavirus. According to India Today, all the infected students have been kept in home isolation and are asymptomatic. As per the data, Anwesha Hostel at Kotlaguda made nearly 257 inmates undergo RT-PCR test by the rapid response team of the Health Department on May 4. Among them, 44 tested positive for COVID-19.

Similarly, another 20 students were found to have contracted the virus in the Bismam Katak block of the same district. The Covid positive students belonged to Hatamuniguda Government High School.

Students studying in eight English medium schools of Rayagada reside in this hostel, Hostel matron Namita Samal said. After receiving the news about the massive spread of COVID-19, Rayagada District Welfare Officer Ashok Kumar Satpathy rushed to the hostel to take stock of the situation. The authorities are taking all precautionary measures to prevent COVID-19 spread among other inmates and staff members.

11 students of residential school test positive

Nearly 11 students of Kasturba Gandhi Girls Residential School in Jharkhand have tested positive for COVID-19 in a span of two days. Reports suggest that all the infected girls are from Class 12 and Class 11. The institute’s administration conducted a random test for COVID-19 on April 27. A total of 195 students, as well as staff, were tested for RT-PCR on that day. The reports were then released on May 4 revealing that 10 students tested positive for novel coronavirus.

To prevent the further spread of the novel coronavirus, the institute implemented all the precautionary against COVID-19. The authorities also ordered sanitization of the institute.
