Odisha BSE Exams 2022: 43,000 students missed Class 10 board exams; Government seeks reason

 The majority of students who missed Class 10 Odisha board exams 2022 are from districts such as Mayurbhanj and Bolangir that are counted among the state’s most backward.

43,000 students missed Odisha 10th Exams 2022

Odisha Class 10 Board exams 2022: More than 43,000 students did not appear for Odisha BSE Board Exams 2022. The education department has asked all district education officers of the State how such a large number of students missed the Class 10 boar exam. Data released by Odisha Board reveals that around 5.71 lakh students filled out forms for Odisha BSE Board Exams. Out of the total, around 5.3 lakh appeared for the exams. The Board commenced the Odisha 10th exams on April 29 in 3,540 centres.

With the conclusion of the last paper on May 7, the government found that 43,489 candidates had not appeared for the 10th board exams in Odisha. The majority of students are absent from districts such as Mayurbhanj and Bolangir that are counted among the state’s most backward.

Talking about the absenteeism during Odisha 10th board exams, the principal secretary of Odisha’s school and mass education department, Bishnupada Sethi said that thousands of students absent from the annual HSC exam 2022 is definitely a matter of concern. The department has asked DEOs to prepare a school-wise analysis of the reason for the absence of students from the exam. They have to submit a report on the school-wise analysis of absenteeism in their respective districts and update the same in the Google Form.” Last year, only 4,412 students missed the exam.

Meanwhile, Odisha school and mass education minister Samir Ranjan Dash also informed that the exam fee for Class 10 Odisha board exams was waived off by the state government in view of the COVID situation. Dash further added that COVID-19 severely affected academics. Students may have dropped out of the examination due to lack of preparation.
