PM Modi instructs ministries, departments to recruit 10 lakh people

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked various ministries and departments to fill up vacant posts in mission mode. Modi has set a target to recruit 10 lakh people in government departments in the next one and half years.
In a significant move, PM Modi today reviewed vacant posts in various departments and ministries of the central government and has instructed to recruit around 10 lakh employees in the next one and half years.
Opposition parties have been raising the issue of unemployment for the past few months. As per data shared by the government in 2020, there are around 8.72 lakh vacant posts in various departments and ministries of the central government. The maximum vacancies are in big ministries like Railways, Posts, Defence (Civil) and Revenue. The Ministry of Home Affairs also has nearly 1.3 lakh posts vacant, against the sanctioned 10.8 lakh posts.
The information was shared through Prime Minister Modiβs Twitter handle: βPM @narendramodi reviewed the status of Human Resources in all departments and ministries and instructed that recruitment of 10 lakh people be done by the Government in a mission mode in next 1.5 years.
Reacting to this development, Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan wrote on Twitter: βA significant people-centric decision that will further strengthen the employment scenario and bring a lot of cheer and optimism for Indiaβs youth. Gratitude to PM @narendramodi ji for the decision to fill up 10 lakh govt. vacancies in mission-mode in the next 1.5 years.β
