• Candidate must have passed graduation in engineering/technology or a master's in any relevant science subject.

• Candidates in the final or pre-final year are also eligible for GATE 2027.

• Candidates who have obtained or are pursuing their qualifying degree from countries other than India are also eligible for GATE. They must be in their third or higher year or have completed a Bachelor's degree in engineering/science/technology/architecture or any GATE-eligible discipline.

GATE stands for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. The exam is conducted for postgraduate admission at IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs.

For GATE 2027, IIT Madras has implemented many changes. Here is what’s new in GATE exam 2027:

• DigiLocker account made mandatory for registration

• Live photo verification implemented in form filling process

• Exam cities have been revised. Candidates can select 6 test cities now.

• GATE syllabus revised for some subjects after 5 years

• New GATE paper (Robotics and Automation) introduced

• Changes made in GATE two paper combination

• GATE 2027 will be conducted for six days for 30 subjects 

• Changes have been made to the XE, XH, XL sectional paper codes and TF paper

• City allotment introduced. Students will be notified about their test city allotment before GATE admit card release

For GATE 2027 live photo verification, candidates need to have a laptop with webcam facility. If using a mobile phone for verification, then it is advised to use a phone with 5 MP camera.

Based on previous year’s trends, GATE application form 2027 is expected to be released between 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.

The GATE exam 2027 registration date has been announced. The release date of GATE application form 2027 is August 27, 2026.

Candidates can apply for GATE 2027 online at GOAPS. To apply they must keep all their information ready.

IIT Madras will conduct GATE 2027 for six days. The GATE 2027 exam dates are Feb 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, and 21, 2027. The exam will be held online in two shifts per day.

IIT Madras have updated important instructions regarding DigiLocker account for GATE 2027 registration. The guidelines can be checked below:

• Candidates must have an active verified account on DigiLocker with a verified email address.

• Mobile number must be associated with DigiLocker. It must be active to receive OTPs.

• Candidates are advised to create a separate "GATE2027" folder inside the DigiLocker drive to upload required documents, if any.

• Do not close or refresh the authentication window until the redirection process completes.

Indian nationals appearing for GATE 2027 must create or update their DigiLocker account for registration. Also, one have to provide their facial details for authentication purposes.

Candidates can fill the GATE exam form following the steps mentioned below

• Go to official website and click on GOAPS

• Link Digilocker account to generate enrolment ID and password

• Login and fill personal and academic details

• Provide facial details 

• Upload documents and pay application fees

• Check and verify all details and submit application form

• Download confirmation page

IIT Madras will start GATE registration on August 27. However, the release time is not yet confirmed by officials. The GOAPS portal is created and will go LIVE tomorrow. 

IIT Madras will start GATE 2027 registration from tomorrow. Candidates who want to apply for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering must update/create their DigiLocker account before the link gets active.
