Patna High Court on Thursday directed the government to hold BSTET and fill the vacant posts of commerce within six months.

Patna High Court on Thursday directed the Bihar government to hold Bihar STET and fill the vacant posts of commerce within six months. The order comes amid the ongoing protest by the candidates who have qualified the secondary teachers’ eligibility test (STET) but not included in the merit list.

A petition was filed by an aspirant regarding not conducting BSTET exam for commerce despite 1308 sanctioned vacant posts. On Thursday, hearing the petition, Justice Anil Kumar Upadhyay ordered to fill up the sanctioned post of teachers in secondary and higher secondary schools under Bihar Government.

The court has ordered government to determine the current vacant posts for commerce within three months and to conduct STET within six months.

Petitioner’s advocate Ritika Rani said, “After 2011 no advertisement was issued to fill up subject of commerce after conducting STET examination though the State Government has admitted in its counter affidavit about 1308 sanctioned vacant posts in the stream of commerce.” She also stated that no requisition as sent to Bihar School Examination Board to conduct STET for commerce while exam for other steams were conducted; Bihar STET result for other steam s have been released recently.
