Finance Ministry Announces Major Recruitment Reforms for IBPS, SBI & RRBs

Finance Ministry has announced several reforms for streamlining recruitment examination. The reforms also aims to streamline the result declaration process. This will be done for all the public sector banks recruitments including State Bank of India (SBI), Nationalised Banks and Regional Rural Banks. The Ministry seeks to enhance transparency in the examinations conducted by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection.

This move was taken after a review by the Department of Financial Services (DFS) under Ministry of Finance. It has been observed by the Department that the newly recruited employees frequently shifts from RRBs to Nationalised Banks and then to SBI. This causes attrition and recruitment instability.

Timeline for Recruitment Results

DFS has asked the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) to implement a timeline for declaring the results as per the sequence across all the three bank categories. The results should be first declared for SBI following by Nationalised Banks and RRBs. This process will begin with the officer-level posts and subsequently it will apply for Clerical-level posts too.

Changes in Exam and Recruitment Process

Currently, RRB exams are conducted before the Nationalised Banks and SBI exams. As per the restructured process, the recruitment for SBI will done first which will be followed by Nationalised Banks and RRBs. The officer-level results will be announced first.

Key Highlights of the Reform

The Finance Ministry introduces major recruitment reforms for SBI, Nationalised Banks and RRBs through IBPS.

  • Officer-level results will be declared first
  • SBI results will be announced first
  • Reform aim to reduce attrition
  • It enhances transparency and predictability
  • Candidates can make choices about the bank preferences
