SSC CGL 2025 Tier-1 Exam: Day 1 sees Multiple Cancellations; Technical Glitch across India

Thousands of students, who’ve been preparing hard for the SSC CGL exam to compete for 14,582 government jobs, are upset as the SSC struggles again in holding the exam.

The first day of the Staff Selection Commission’s (SSC) Combined Graduate Level (CGL) 2025 Tier-1 exam started today, September 12, it’s been a mess, rather than being a smooth ride for candidates. Since the commencement of shift 1 in the morning, reports of cancellations and technical problems started coming from all over the country.

Thousands of students, who’ve been preparing hard for the SSC CGL exam to compete for 14,582 government jobs, are upset as the SSC struggles again. The exam which was already cancelled in August for similar kind of issues once again saw similar incidents at Gurugram, Noida, Delhi, Jammu and Kolkata. The SSC CGL exam at Jammu, Gurgaon and one of the centres in Delhi and Bokaro in Jharkhand were cancelled for today.

The SSC CGL 2025 is a two-part test to fill Group B and C jobs in government offices. Tier-1 is an online exam with 100 questions split into General Intelligence, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension, worth 200 marks.

Tier-2 comes later for specific roles. With over 28 lakh people registering for the exam this year has put lot of pressure on SSC also to hold the exam effortlessly.

Many of the candidates took to X (formerly Twitter) with the hashtag #SSCCGL, shared issues being faced by various candidates all over the country.

Lets take a look at some of the places where exam got cancelled today:

Jammu: A notice from Digital Computer Education, put out by SSC North Western Region, said the morning shift got cancelled due to "technical and administrative reasons." They’ll try again between September 24-26.

Delhi: @CGLAspirant2025 posted, "Exam cancelled last minute in Delhi. We’re just standing outside with no updates. This is unfair!"

Gurugram: A notice was shared on social media, showing the exam called because of technical problems.

Kanpur: A X user ExamWarriorIND wrote, "Server crashed, no seats available. They delayed it and then cancelled."

Hyderabad: SSCMentorsOfficial said, "Hyderabad exam got cancelled out of nowhere. No one told us anything!"

Shiksha.com was first to report about exam cancellation in Gurugram, later about Jammu and Delhi centres. Another X user, ARSParihar_1 writes: "This is pathetic. When will someone take responsibility?"

The SSC is yet to issue any official statement about the chaos which got created on the Day 1 of the exam and how it plans to manage it in coming days.
