UGC NET 2026 New Subjects

University Grants Commission has introduced two new subjects Statistics and Forestry in UGC NET June 2026. With this addition, total number of UGC NET subjects has increased from 85 to 87. UGC NET exam, conducted by National Testing Agency, decides eligibility for Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship in Indian universities and colleges.

Candidates who have completed graduation or postgraduation in Statistics or Forestry can now directly opt for any of these subjects when applying for UGC NET 2026. NTA is accepting UGC NET application form. Last date to complete UGC NET registration 2026 is May 20. They can apply online for UGC NET June session online only at official website ugcnet.nta.ac.in.

How to fill UGC NET 2026 Application Form?

Candidates can fill out NTA UGC NET application by following these steps

  • Go to official website ugcnet.nta.ac.in

  • Click on UGC NET June Application Form link

  • Select New Registration and enter asked details

  • Log in and fill out UGC NET application form 

  • Upload scanned images and pay application fee 

  • Save and submit the online form

Those belonging to general category need to pay INR 1,150. Whereas OBC and SC/ST/ PwD have to pay INR 600 and INR 325 as UGC NET 2025 application fees.
