Education Minister Manish Sisodia has confirmed that all the government and private schools in the Northeastern districts of Delhi will remain closed today i.e. February 25, 2020, due to rising violence in Delhi following the protest against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

The annual examination scheduled for the day will be canceled as well. The minister has also confirmed via a tweet that he had a word with the HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' and urged him to postpone the board examination of the particular district.

In the tweet, Sisodia said, “There will be no internal examinations in violence-affected North East district and all private and government schools will be closed. Have spoken to HRD minister requesting him to postpone the board exams in the district.”

Replying to the postpone requests, CBSE spokesperson Rama Sharma expressed that there are no examination centres in North East Delhi for exams and this is why no annual Board examination will take place as scheduled. He further added that according to the schedule only class 12 has an exam in four vocational subjects in 18 centres in the Western part of Delhi.

During the protest, violence broke between pro and anti CSS protestors against Citizen Amendment Act (CAA), five people including a police officer got killed while almost 50 people got injured. According to the reports, vehicles and shops were set on fire and parts of Delhi got converted into a war zone. Delhi Chief Minister took to social media and voiced his concern over the matter. He also urged the Hon’ble LG and Union home Minister to maintain law and order.
