Fujitsu and IISc MoU

Fujitsu Limited and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate with researchers with diverse theoretical and systems backgrounds. The aim of this collaboration is to strengthen algorithmic foundations for the field of data science. Further, the collaboration will solve the scientific issues that arise due to the quick and complex process required for decision-making. Furthermore, modelling issues, inferential issues, computational issues, and application-related issues will be catered through this collaboration.

The MoU between IISc and Fujitsu Limited was signed on May 22, 2024, at the IISc Bangalore campus under the presence of esteemed members Soumyendu Raha and Debnath Pal, Professors at the Department of Computational and Data Sciences, and the Principal Investigators from the IISc side.

The MoU will initiate joint research for standards, guidelines and protocols for responsible use of research data.  It also concentrates on outreach exercises to facilitate knowledge dissemination in the High-Performance Computing (HPC) domain.

IISc and Fujitsu researchers will work together on areas such as diffusion maps, and semi-supervised learning; inequalities; sparse vectors and low-rank matrices; high dimensions and spikes; graphs, spectral clustering; concentration sparse recovery and scarification; stochastic block models and synchronisation problems.

The MoU will explore new high-performance computation and the relative. The emerging technological field of joint research in high-performance algorithms will be the core of these efforts, to develop effective and useful resolutions for data science crises.
