IGNOU Extends July 2025 Admission Deadline to October 15 for ODL and Online Programs

Last date for submission of Application (except for Certificate and Semester-based Programmes) extended up to 15 October 2025.

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has further extended last date for  July 2025 session admission. The previous deadline was Sept 30, 2025, which has been extended to Oct 15, 2025, for most of Open Distance Learning (ODL) and online courses.

According to IGNOU notification, new date extension applies to all undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG), diploma, and other programs, excluding certificate and semester based courses. The move comes just a day after the earlier cutoff, providing an additional two weeks for candidates to complete their registrations.

In an X (formerly Twitter) post the university stated: "JULY 2025 Admission Cycle: Last date for submission of Application (except for Certificate and Semester-based Programmes) extended up to 15 October 2025."

For ODL admissions, the portal at ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in welcomes applicants and notes that a DEB ID (Distance Education Bureau Identification) is mandatory for submissions. The online programs portal at ignouiop.samarth.edu.in advises students to ensure they have access to a computer, laptop, and internet, as no printed study materials are provided, and recommends ODL mode for those uncomfortable with fully online learning.

This is the second extension for the July 2025 cycle. Initially, the deadline was earlier in the year, but it was pushed to September 30 following requests from students. The university has urged applicants to create their DEB ID before starting the process to avoid last-minute hurdles.
