The IIT JAM exam 2026 will be conducted in a computer-based test (CBT) mode. The questions will appear in a random sequence on the computer screen. A total of 60 questions will be asked in the examination with a total weightage of 100 marks. There will be three sections in the examination, namely sections A, B and C. 

To be eligible for IIT JAM 2026, candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university. There is no minimum marks requirement to apply, and even final-year students are allowed to appear for the exam. Additionally, there is no age limit, and the examination is open to both Indian and foreign candidates.

In case any candidate has entered an incorrect category/ gender/ DoB or examination city in the IIT JAM registration 2026 form, then they are allowed to change the details with an additional fee of INR 300. Further, students can also add an additional test paper or change the test paper in the previously submitted application form with a fee of INR 300 before November 10, 2025. 

IIT Bombay has started the IIT JAM registration 2026 in online mode. Students who are willing to check the registration link must note that, firstly, students have to visit the IIT JAM official website. IIT Bombay has started the JAM 2026 registration process today. Students who are willing to fill the application form of Indian Institute of Technology Joint Admission Test for Masters (IIT JAM) for session 2026 can visit jam2026.iitb.ac.in and complete the registration process. However, students must check and adhere to the eligiiblity criteria before filling the application form. 

All candidates are eligible to appear for two test papers in IIT JAM 2026 exam. Further, the PwD candidates are eligible for one hour compensatory time for each paper. However, PwD candidates must fill the requisite forms during IIT JAM registration 2026 to avail the compensatory time. 

Students can check the IIT JAM 2026 exam date and time. The authorities will conduct the examination in two sessions, and the duration of the exam will be three hours. 

IIT Bombay will conduct the JAM 2026 exam on February 15, 2026. The examination will be conducted in seven test papers, namely, Biotechnology (BT), Geology(GG), Mathematics (MA), Chemistry (CY), Economics (EN), Mathematical Statistics (MS), and Physics (PH). The IIT JAM exam 2026 will be conducted in a computer-based test. Students who are seeking admission to a programme must qualify in the relevant test paper, satisfy the eligibility requirements of the respective academic programme. 

The JAM 2026 scores will be used to fill around 3000 seats in the postgraduate programme at 22 IITs for the academic year 2026-27. The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay will conduct the Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) for the session 2026 in around 116 cities across India. Students who are seeking admission to Master's in Science, MSc MTech Dual Degree, Joint MSc PhD programmes or Integrated PhD will be able to appear for the entrance examination on February 15, 2026.

No, there is no age restriction in IIT JAM 2026 exam. All Indian students, along with Indian origin and foreign students, can fill the IIT JAM application form 2025 in online mode. However, students must note that only eligible candidates will be able to apply; otherwise, the candidature of ineligible candidates will be cancelled at any time during the IIT JAM 2026 registration process. 

The IIT JAM exam pattern 2026 has been released by IIT Bombay at the official website. As per the pattern, the JAM 2026 exam will be conducted in a computer-based test mode for seven test papers at the undergraduate level. The examination will comprise of:

IIT JAM 2026 application fee shall be paid using online payment methods such as debit card, credit card, net banking, or UPI. Once the payment is successful, the JOAPS portal will generate a fee receipt. Students are suggested to save the details of fee receipt for future use.

The application fee for IIT JAM 2026 varies depending on the candidate’s category/ gender and the number of test papers. Candidates belonging to the Female, SC, ST, or PwD categories need to pay INR 1000 for one test paper and INR 1350 for two test papers. For all other candidates, the fee is INR 2000 for one test paper and INR 2700 for two test papers.

No, IIT JAM 2026 application forms will not be available in any offline mode. The entire IIT JAM registration process, including uploading documents and fee payment, will be conducted via the JOAPS portal. The authorities will not accept any request for registration in offline mode.
