After the JAM seat allotment, when a student select Acept and Freeze or Accept with upgrade for the first time, they will be redirected to the online payment portal for the payment of seat booking fees. The seat acceptance fee category-wise is mentioned below.

• SC, ST, or PwD categories - Rs. 7,500. 

The admission process for postgraduate programs through JAM 2026 will be conducted in four rounds. Students will be allotted seats based on JAM All India Rank (AIR), category and preferences.

Candidates can apply for academic programs based on the test paper they qualified in JAM 2026. They can apply for more than one program offered under those papers. Also, they need to fulfil the minimum educational qualification (MEQs) and eligibility requirements (ERs) of each admitting institute. Candidates need to arrange the programs in order of preference.

Students who are mentioned in the JAM 2026 merit list can apply for admission to participating IITs. If the candidate has qualified in one or more paper have to submit only one consolidated application form. 

The qualifying candidates need to apply for counselling at the JOAPS portal. The counselling process will be online. Candidates must submit the counselling form before the last date.

IIT Bombay will announce the IIT JAM first seat allotment result on May 25, 2026. Candidates can check the seat allotment at the JOAPS portal. After allotment, they have to submit their choice: Accept & Freeze, Accept & Upgrade, and Reject.

Candidates who have submitted the JAM counselling form can exercie choice filling process. During this process, they have made the preference of courses and institutions in priority order. After making the preference student need to freeze it. Last date to freeze the choices is May 6.

IIT JAM counselling form will be available online from March 27, 2026. The eligible candidates need to submit the form by April 15, 2026.

IIT JAM 2026 counselling will begin on March 27, 2026. Candidates who have qualified JAM exam 2026 can participate in the counselling process.

Yes, IIT JAM results were announced on March 19, 2026. Candidates can check at JOAPS portal. The result comprises total marks and AIR.
